Bronze sculpture artists emerged thousands of years ago. It was the Greeks, however, who brought the art form to the fore, scaling the works to full life size. The ancient Chinese knew about the lost wax casting process and section mould casting by at least 1200 b.c. Bronze sculpture artists flourished in Egypt too, where thousands of their castings have survived in tombs.
Modern bronze sculpture artists draw their inspiration from movement and feeling and colors and symbols, as exemplified by the pieces featured below. The processes now are very intricate. One piece can require months and months of preparation before the final steps begin.
